Chongqing-Ningxia Cooperation Online Matchmaking Meeting Held

On August 19, on the occasion of the 5th China-Arab States Expo, the Chongqing-Ningxia Cooperation Online Matchmaking Conference and project signing were set up in Chongqing and Yinchuan respectively, and the two-way promotion method was held online and offline simultaneously. Through the two-way “cloud promotion” approach, Chongqing and Ningxia have sent a warm invitation to invest in Yuning, expressing the common aspirations of discussing cooperation and sharing opportunities. Chongqing and Ningxia will further strengthen economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between the two places, and jointly explore including The “Belt and Road” market, including Arab countries, promotes high-level opening up and promotes high-quality development.

A total of 11 projects were signed in the Chongqing Ningxia Economic and Trade Cooperation Online Project Signing Event, covering the strategic cooperation between the government departments of Chongqing and Ningxia, and the investment and trade cooperation between Chongqing and Ningxia, and Chongqing and Arab countries in various fields. The total contract amount is 7.802 billion yuan. It mainly involves strategic cooperation in the fields of commerce, cultural tourism, ports and channels, as well as investment and trade cooperation in agriculture and animal husbandry, new energy circular economy, and bonded warehousing.

Economic and trade exchanges between Chongqing and Arab countries

Taking the opportunity of jointly building the “Belt and Road” initiative, Chongqing is actively developing economic and trade exchanges with Arab countries. The Arab market has gradually become an important driving force for the continuous growth of Chongqing’s foreign trade and two-way investment.

In 2020, total imports and exports with Arab countries will be 12.179 billion yuan; from January to June 2021, total imports and exports with Arab countries will be 7.286 billion yuan, accounting for 10.1% of the city’s total imports and exports during the same period.

As of June 2021, Arab countries have invested and established 15 enterprises in Chongqing, with a total of 32.31 million U.S. dollars in contractual foreign investment (including Saudi Arabia’s 31.35 million U.S. dollars), and a cumulative actual foreign investment of 24.14 million U.S. dollars (including 202.1 million U.S. dollars). As of June 2021, Chongqing has accumulatively invested 83.94 million U.S. dollars in Arab countries, and the accumulated contract value of projects undertaken has reached 317.8 million U.S. dollars.
